About Us

Nigel began his professional career in New Zealand as an automotive engineer before retraining as a scuba instructor and first aid instructor, combining technical knowledge with safety-critical skills. This led to several years working internationally as a scuba instructor, followed by a move into expedition leadership.

For nearly a decade, he worked as an expedition leader, guiding complex overland expeditions across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. In these remote and often hostile environments, he was responsible for medical support, risk management, emergency response, and team safety— experience that continues to underpin his calm, decisive approach in high-pressure situations.

Returning to New Zealand, he undertook university training as a Paramedic before relocating to the UK in 2009. He began working with the North West Ambulance Service as an HCPC-registered frontline paramedic, bringing extensive operational experience in trauma care, emergency medicine, and scene management.

Alongside his ambulance work, he has continued to expand his specialist skill set, undertaking advanced training in:

  • Trauma and environmental emergencies in remote areas
  • Rescue 3 Swift Water Rescue Technician
  • RYA Intermediate Powerboat
  • RYA VHF/SRC Radio Operator
  • RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency
  • Fire Safety Marshal training
  • First Aid training instructor

In 2010, he began working in film and television as a set medic, applying his emergency services background to the unique demands of production environments and first aid training. His understanding of filming pressures, combined with robust clinical and safety expertise, has made him a trusted presence on set.

In 2020, he co-founded Paramedical Resources with Mark, with a clear aim: to provide the highest-trained medics and water safety specialists available to the film and television industry. Since then, the company has supported a wide range of high-profile productions, delivering professional, discreet, and production-focused medical and safety services.

Drawing on 25 years of critical care experience as a paramedic with the ambulance service, Mark provides the highest level of medical support to the TV and film industry.

In 2020, Mark co-founded Paramedical Resources Limited with his business partner, Nigel, having 18 years in the industry. They ensure comprehensive, discreet care for cast and crew behind the scenes.

Additionally, Paramedical Resources Limited offers water safety services, showcasing advanced qualifications in the following:

  • RYA Intermediate Powerboat Level 2,
  • RYA VHF and SRC Radio Operator,
  • RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency,
  • Rescue 3 Swiftwater Rescue Technician,
  • Fire Safety Marshal
  • First Aid Training Instructor
Gold Standard Care for the Film and Television Industry

Not all medical cover is created equal. When you’re responsible for the safety of cast and crew, you need more than just a qualified paramedic – you need a medical professional who understands the unique environment of a production set.

We Stay On Set
This might seem like a small detail, but it makes all the difference. While some medical providers position their paramedics in vehicles away from filming, our approach is fundamentally different. We’re on set, within earshot, throughout your shoot. We position ourselves where we can respond in seconds, not minutes. We understand that on a busy production, rapid response isn’t just preferable – it’s essential.

We Know the Industry
Set etiquette matters. Understanding when to move and when to wait, knowing how to communicate without disrupting filming, recognising the pressures and rhythms of production – these aren’t things you can learn from a textbook. Our paramedics have years of experience working specifically in the TV and film industry. We integrate seamlessly into your production, providing expert medical support without becoming an obstacle to creativity or schedule.

We Bring True Expertise
Every paramedic we provide is HCPC registered and maintains current professional registration. We’re not first-aiders or technicians – we’re qualified paramedics with the skills to deal with any eventuality, from minor injuries to critical emergencies. Our team maintains up-to-date knowledge of all paramedic protocols, ensuring we deliver the most effective care possible when it matters most.

We Cover Every Scenario
From standard on-set medical support to specialist water safety cover, we adapt our services to match the specific demands of your production. Need an ED consultant for complex medical decisions? We have one available. Filming around water? Our paramedics are also swift water rescue qualified. Whatever your shoot requires, we have the skills, equipment, and experience to provide appropriate medical coverage.

We Protect Your Production
All our services include full insurance coverage, protecting your production and providing complete peace of mind. You’re not just hiring a paramedic – you’re engaging a professional medical service with all the appropriate safeguards and protections in place.

Our Promise
We promise to deliver gold standard care to all our clients. This means arriving prepared, staying alert, responding immediately, and treating every cast and crew member with the same level of professional medical care you’d expect from any frontline paramedic. Because that’s exactly what we are.
